There have been two notable phases in what’s known as 'Edutainment'.
The first wave was Hollywood-focused forays by the likes of Disney and Sesame Street. The second shifted further towards education, but often ended up unbalanced and clunky.
Amid a bunch of high-profile failures, Edutainment became something of a dirty word.
Yet after a period in the wilderness, a third wave of Edutainment is emerging...
Welcome to Edutainment 3.0
Fuelled by seismic shifts in culture, media and technology, we see enormous potential in what we're calling Edutainment 3.0.
Imagine entertainment IP licensed seamlessly into educational settings; brands as neo educators; cultural institutions reimagined; and playing video games to both learn and earn.
To capture where we’ve been, where we’re at, and where things are headed, we’re creating a deep dive trends report - but it's unlike any you’ve seen before...
Choose your own adventure
The report is a three-act story. Each act is made up of a number of scenes, with different characters appearing throughout.
We’re designing it as what we’re calling a StoryDeck - a presentation deck, but laid out ‘choose your own adventure’ style with different paths and routes to take.
We’re also layering in video clips, animations, audio and other media to bring the report to life. We’re even making a (tongue in cheek) trailer.
But that's not all...
